Why buyers want to see a painting in a room
A painting photographed on its own gives no sense of scale, and size is the question collectors ask most before they buy online. A true-scale room view answers it without a conversation, and it helps a buyer imagine the work in their own home. Pair it with a close-up of the surface and a photo of the edges, as the guide to choosing a wall mockup explains.
Frequently asked questions
Is this painting mockup free?▾
Yes. Uploading a photo of your painting, switching rooms, sizes and frames, and downloading a 1600px preview are free, with no sign-up. The editor, with 600+ rooms and full-resolution export, starts with a 7-day free trial.
Is my painting uploaded anywhere?▾
No. The mockup is drawn in your browser. Your photo only leaves your device if you choose to open it in the editor.
How do I show collectors how big the painting really is?▾
Enter the painting's real size. Every room has a measured wall width, so the painting is drawn at the same scale as the furniture around it. A buyer sees at a glance whether a 30 × 40 in painting fills the wall or sits small above the sofa.
What photo of my painting works best?▾
A straight-on photo in soft daylight, cropped to the edges of the painting with no wall or easel showing. Avoid glare on varnish or glass, and keep the camera level with the center of the painting.
Can galleries use this to pitch a work to a client?▾
Yes. Download the preview and send it, or open it in the editor to show the same painting in more rooms, including your own room photos.
